Anoushka Shankar
Anoushka Shakar was the American and British sitar artist. She is also the very first and youngest female to receive an award from the British House of Commons Award. Anoushka is a rising star in Indian sitar. She is the student and daughter to Ravi Shankar. She was born in London in 1982. During her first years she split her time between London New Delhi. When she was 13, she gave her first show on stage in New Delhi. Then she relocated to Encinitas CA where she graduated from High School with honours in 1999. Anouskha was only 17 years old, has had an extremely successful recording and performing career. Her father was with her in many performances for many years. The year 1998 saw her released Anourag as her first solo record. The Grammy-nominated Live at Carnegie Hall album was released in 2002. She's performed in all major venues around the globe. Anoushka's career does not only include the world of music. Bapi the love of My Live, a picture-biography that is written in tribute to her father Ravi Shankar was published in 2002. Also, she has acted. In 2003's film Dance Like a Man, where she portrayed a Bharat dancer in the form of a young girl. Anoushka is still progressing in her professional career, and we can expect many new things that will be coming from this talented lady. Anoushka shankar is an English born singer who travelled her early years between London, Delhi and California. At the age of 9, she started studying the piano with her father. Her first performance with the sitar came in her 75th birthday celebration in Delhi, four years after. Alongside her father, his world tour, Anoushka had a wealth of performances on stage at Carnegie Hall while still in her teens, performing in Peter Gabriel's WOMAD festival, and also making recordings alongside George Harrison. She was the first woman to receive the House of Commons Shield, presented by British Parliament in recognition of her talent and musicianship in music and the Asian Arts.
